| Journal Entry #4: A Hawkeye joins the team |
[Sep. 15th, 2006|10:56 am] |
After several days of indoctrinating my Hughes into the pack, it was time to go hunting. Our efforts quickly yeilded a quarry far better than I could have hoped for, as we found an injured (by me) Hawkeye not far south of our territory. Hughes and I moved to intercept her, working together seemlessly, our packsense in perfect harmony. We were able to pull off a unique maneuver that stunned the Hawkeye into quick submission. Once again my natural talent for leading has come through for us.
We then brought her back to our command post, for debriefing. Hughes is currently gaurding her while I continue the hunt for food. As great as the is capture is, it will not feed the pack... well... no. No it won't.
Initial observations find that the Hawkeye is a reliable and loyal, but injured and neglected. Her pack has apparently been eaten by those large noisy birds, or possibly by humans. Or maybe they just got their asses burned. Whatever the case, she is now mine! And squishy!

| Journal Entry #3: Success at last! |
[Sep. 10th, 2006|05:16 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | happy | ] | It has been a very eventful week. A fire (NOT my fault) has burned part of my territory, plus a goodly amount of the land to the south. I successfully created firebreaks to protect the immediate environs around the command post, and the amount of my territory ruined by fire is relatively small. The fire itself appears to be contained, in large part due to a pack of extremely large, very noisy, water vomiting birds. At some point I would like to look further into where these birds nest, and what they eat. For now, I decided it prudent to avoid their detection, and remained in my post once the firebreaks had been completed.
This morning the smell of smoke had significantly disappated and I went out to check on my fire breaks and assess the damage to my property. There is a burnt swath but I do not believe it will cause me too much difficulty.
In the aftermath of the fire, creatures have been on move around my territory, and several have even gone so far as to venture through my territory. This proved to be greatly profitable today as it netted me my first pack member, who even now is sleeping peacefully by my side. But I get ahead of myself.
This morning at approximately 10:30 a.m. a mature Hawkeye and a cadet Hughes wandered deep into my territory, near to where my command post is. It is very possible that my scent markers were hidden by the residual smell of smoke from the fire, for they seemed surprised when they encountered me. My heart lept at the sight of a the hawkeye, but she appears to be currently claimed by another Mustang. I could still smell his stench on her coat. We briefly battled, but I was successfully able to drive her off before she gained much intelligence about my weaknesses. Still I will have to be careful for poachers in the future.
The Cadet with her was unmated, and I poached him away from the Hawkeye with ease. He is young, but very trim and intelligent, and best of all, marvolously accomodating. I immediately set forth to impress him and make him part of my pack. It was amazingly easy. I went hunting and bagged a huge buck. I totally rock. And hughes all on his own initiative made the command post much more secure and comfortable, just to impress me! He gives a great foot massage. And he's handy in battle. And Damn, I rock HARD, I wish I could track down that that other Mustang just to show how much my pack totally rocks. Bet he doesn't have anyone nearly as great as my Hughes.
Anyway, I wined and dined my newest packmember, and he soon succumbed to my charms. He makes very pleasant "hoo-ey!" sounds when I mate him. I can't wait until he wakes up again.
In fact... I'm sure he won't mind...

| Journal Entry #2: Are Elric's Pack Material? |
[Sep. 10th, 2006|02:44 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | discontent | ] | My journey to the south brought an unexpected glut of potential packmates. All of them appear to belong to a species called Elric. There was one young Alphonse, an older Edward and his rather anemic Alfons mate. I tested my skills against them. Despite besting the aggressive Edward in a fight, and seducing him with my scent, I was unable to win the respect or trust from any of them. The long term outlook looks grim for this trio of creatures. They were prejudiced against me from the start and I was unable to change their opinion.
Edwards especially seem to be unworthy of being in a pack. They appear to be highly jealous, random and violent creatures, who treat their own mates poorly. The other two varieties seem to be so instinctively attracted to the Edward that they tollerate and even seek out the abuse. I can only conclude that Elrics are insane.
All in all, this encounter yeilded a lot of good intelligence, and I got laid, which was very very nice while it lasted.
Analysis: Elrics are poor pack prospects, but possibly tasty. They also seem to like fish and turtles (perhaps useful for bait...) Mating is fun. The kick in the crotch was uncalled for.

| Journal Entry #1: Encounter with a Greed |
[Sep. 10th, 2006|02:39 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | disappointed | ] | Successfully infiltrated the territory of the competitor to the North. I have determined that he is beyond my current abilities to fight and that I should wait until I have secured a larger pack before risking any further encounters. I was not frightened of him. Merely sensible.
